Helping you learn, heal and grow.

My services

Clients come to me for a variety of different reasons, but the one thing they all tend to have in common is that other health professionals that they’ve seen haven’t really helped them. While the medical profession tends to focus on the physical body, the psychological profession tends to focus just on the mind. My service sits between the two worlds, with the understanding that sexual and body related issues arise from a complex interplay between your body and your mind. My therapy aims to bring your body and your mind into balance and alignment, so that you can better function and improve your sexual, mental and physical wellbeing. I use a range of different therapeutic approaches in combination, based on what your goals and needs are.

I have supported clients who come to me with:

  • Negative self-perception and body image

  • Chronic conditions such as low immune function or pain

  • Recovery from surgery or significant injury

  • Acceptance of bodily limitations and/or changes

  • Sexual dysfunction (performance issues, erectile issues, anorgasm etc)

  • Sexual pain disorders

  • Lack of sexual libido and/or pleasure

  • Recovery from negative relationship and sexual experiences

  • Recovery from trauma (relational, sexual or job related)

  • Lack of sexual feeling or ‘numbness’

  • Gender identity transitions

Psychotherapy & Psychology*

As a fully registered psychologist, I provide a range of psycho-therapeutic services with a specific focus on mind-body (or somatic) psychology. I specialise in improving psycho-sexual and physical wellbeing through a combination of psychotherapy and embodiment counselling. I can help you better understand the causes of your physical and/or sexual issues and implement strategies and exercises that improve your physical, mental and sexual health and function. I treat people who have concerns about the physical limitations of their bodies (such as performance issues related to the aging process) as well as to those wanting to improving physical functioning (such as sexual function).

*Please note that I am a fully registered psychologist but am completing a re-entry to practice plan as I have not been registered since 2016. My service rates are heavily discounted to reflect this (the Psychology Board of Australia currently recommends a service fee of about $300/hr for psychological services). I was last registered as a general psychologist in 2014 but de-registered in 2016 as it was not a requirement of my employment as a corporate psychologist (2012-2021). Refer Psychology Board of Australia for details about the conditions on my psychology registration. I have been a sexual wellness therapist / embodiment counsellor since 2021.

Embodiment Counselling

Embodiment counselling, also known as somatic psychology, is about helping people to develop self-awareness of their body’s sensations, emotions, energies and physiological processes and how their body interacts with their mind. Embodiment literally means ‘in body’, so as a therapy it’s useful for helping physical body conditions by generating the awareness needed to resolve it. Awareness always precedes a solution, so to fix something, we must first become deeply aware of what is causing it.

Embodiment counselling relies heavily on psychological techniques which have been popularised in recent years such as mindfulness, breathwork, movement therapy, sensory awareness and body scan exercises. This body-oriented therapy uses techniques and holistic approaches to help you alleviate both physical and mental issues and improve your overall health and wellbeing. As an embodiment counsellor, I work with you to understand where you are now with your mind and body, what’s happened to you leading up to this point that might be contributing and what your individual health goals are. From there I work with you to develop strategies and exercises that enable you to create balance between your mind and body, and to take control of your body, rather than it controlling you.

Please note: I have been an embodiment and sexual health therapist since 2021. Prior to that I worked as a behavioural scientist and corporate psychologist.
